Drake, Beyonce, Stormzy, DJ Khaled and Central Cee all make the shortlist of nominees for this year’s 19th anniversary of the Urban Music Awards.

London 23/01/23, The 19th annual Urban Music Awards (UMA’s) have announced their nominations for the upcoming ceremony, set to take place on February 28th, 2023 at the Porchester Hall in London. The awards will be broadcast live on VooVix TV, who have commissioned the event and will also feature backstage interviews and highlights packages.

The UMA’s are a celebration of urban music and the talented artists within the genre, and this year’s nominees represent a diverse range of sounds and styles. The nominations and voting are conducted by music fans worldwide, providing a platform for fans to have a say in who takes home the coveted awards. Voting is live now at www.urbanmusicawards.co/voting .

In the Best Album category, nominees include Little Simz ‘No Thank You’, Knucks ‘Alpha Place’, Drake & 21 Savage ‘Her Loss’, Kojey Radical ‘Reason to Smile’, Stormzy ‘This Is What I Mean’, Chris Brown ‘Breezy’, Beyonce ‘Renaissance’, DJ Khaled ‘God Did’, Cleo Sol – ‘Mother’, Dave – ‘We’re All Alone in This Together’, M Huncho – ‘Chasing Euphoria’, and Tion Wayne – ‘Green With Envy’. These albums have all made a significant impact on the urban music scene and it will be exciting to see which one takes home the award.

In the Artist of the Year (UK) category, nominees include Central Cee, Mahalia, Knucks, Stormzy, Ms. Banks, A1 x J1, Cleo Sol and Jnr Choi. These artists have all had a significant impact on the UK music scene.

Across the pond, the Artist of the Year (USA) category, nominees include Chris Brown, Beyonce, Lizzo, Drake, DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Coi Leray, GloRilla, Latto, 21 Savage, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow .

In addition to the awards ceremony, VooVix TV will also be re-launching it’s flagship reality TV show, “Britain’s Next Urban Superstar,” previously sponsored by Footlocker and broadcast on Flava TV. The show makes is return in 2022 commissioned by VooVix TV with auditions commencing in London on February 13th and the finalists announced at the UMA’s on February 28th.

This year’s UMA’s also includes nominations for Artist of the Year Asia, Africa, and more, highlighting the diversity of urban music across the globe. The UMA’s is the only awards ceremony held in 15 countries and to celebrate the 19th anniversary, this year’s ceremony promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
